Board and card games are the format that was always designed for exactly this. A turn-based game needs no split screen, no second controller and no simultaneous input — one person moves, then the other does, and the machine just keeps the board. That is why the move to a screen costs this genre less than it costs anything else: the hand stays hidden, the turn stays alternating, and the only thing that disappears is the shuffling.
Every game on this page is hand-picked. This is not a tag filter — a page of two-player games filled from the two-player tag becomes the general two-player page, which already exists and is a different thing. Do we need two controllers?
No. Everything is played on one shared keyboard or one shared mouse, handed back and forth. Board and card games take turns by nature, so most of these need nothing but somebody sitting next to you.
Can we play remotely?
Not on this page, and that is deliberate. These assume the other person is beside you: no lobby, no code to share, no stranger opposite.
Does it work on a phone?
Two people on one phone, barely. A tablet lying flat works for the ones that handle touch properly, and those carry a mobile badge on their card.
