Wedding Games

Thirty-six games about the busiest day in somebody else's life, and not one of them lets you lose it.

42 games · hand-picked, then filled from the catalogue

Every game on this page is about the day before.

How this list is put together

A wedding game is not about a wedding. It is about the dress being chosen, the cake being iced, the hair being pinned, the table being laid — and then the game ends, usually with a picture. The ceremony is almost never playable. Thirty-six games in this catalogue are built on the preparation and perhaps two show you the thing being prepared for.

That is not laziness. It is that the preparation is the part with decisions in it, and a decision is what a game is made of. Watching two people say yes is a cut scene.

Nothing here can go wrong

The defining feature of the genre is the missing one: there is no failure state. You cannot ruin the dress, miss the ceremony or run out of money. A few of the salon games add a clock to create some pressure, and they are the odd ones out.

That puts wedding games in the same family as colouring and dress-up: things you play until you are satisfied rather than until you win. If that sounds slight, it is worth noticing how much of the catalogue's most played material works exactly that way.

Three kinds, and the cakes are the best ones

Dress and style. The largest group: a bride, a rack of options, a mirror. Twenty-one of the thirty-six are filed under girls by the distributor, which says more about the industry's filing than about the games.

Cakes and food. Layered, iced and decorated in stages, and the only sub-genre here with real craft in the interface — the good ones make you pipe the icing rather than click a button marked «ice the cake».

Planning and rush. Serve the guests, seat the family, get the flowers in on time. These are time-management games with confetti, and they are the ones that can actually be lost.

What it costs to open

A median of 10.7 MB, against 7.8 MB across the catalogue — heavier than average because a wardrobe is a lot of pictures. Six of the thirty-six work on a phone, and the cards say which.

If the appeal is the arranging rather than the theme, hair salon games and makeover games are the same pleasure without the church.

Questions people ask

What do you do in a wedding game?

Prepare something. A dress, a cake, a hairstyle, a table plan, a venue. The day itself is almost never played — the genre is entirely about the hours before it, which is a fair description of a real wedding too.

Can you lose?

Almost never, and that is the appeal. A few add a timer to the salon games to make them tense, but the default wedding game has no failure state: you are arranging things until you like how they look.

Are they suitable for children?

Most are. They are dress-up and decoration games with a theme, filtered here for the obvious — no horror, no weapons. The list we have checked one at a time is the collection for younger children.

Do they work on a phone?

Six of the thirty-six are marked for touch, which is few for a genre built on tapping things. We label every one.

Do I need an account?

No. Nothing here asks for one and nothing downloads.
