Archery Games
Eighty games with a bow in them, and about a third turned out to have no bow at all — the word «arrow» is also a road sign.
35 games · hand-picked, then filled from the catalogue
The first count of this page said eighty games. Reading the titles brought it down.
How this list is put together
Arrow Shift Logic Tree. Arrows Puzzle Escape. Arrow Rope Maze. These are perfectly good puzzle games in which the arrow is a road sign, not a projectile, and they came back in the search because the word is the same. It is the third time this has happened while building these pages — the counting problem is always the English language, not the catalogue — and the rule that came out of it is simple enough: count the word, then read the first twenty titles with your own eyes.
What is left is seventy-seven games with an actual bow in them, and they split cleanly in two.
Target archery, and archer action
Target archery is the small half. A roundel at a measured distance, a wind gauge, a power meter, and nothing on the screen that moves except your own aim. These are the quiet games on this page. They are also the only sports simulation in this catalogue where the difficulty comes entirely from a physics calculation rather than from an opponent.
Archer action is everything else and it is most of the page: stickman duels, ragdoll physics, hunting, and a surprising amount of tower defence where the bow is the tower. Here the arrow is a weapon rather than a discipline, and the pleasure is watching something fall over in a way the developer did not fully author.
Why an arrow is harder to program than a bullet
Almost every gun in a browser game fires a line. The code draws a ray from the barrel to the first thing in its path, decides that thing was hit, and the visible bullet is an animation played afterwards for your benefit. Nothing travels.
An arrow cannot do that, because an arrow that arrives instantly is not an arrow. It has to be a real moving object with a speed and a weight, falling the whole way, and the game has to check what it touches every frame of the flight. That is more work for the machine and much more work for you: you aim above the target, you lead a moving one, and on the better games here you account for a crosswind.
It is the reason this genre never merged into shooting games, and the reason the good ones feel satisfying in a way a hitscan rifle never quite does.
Nine out of seventy-seven, which makes no sense
Nine of the games on this page are marked as working on touch.
Pull back, let go: it is hard to invent an input better suited to a touchscreen than drawing a bow, and the mobile app stores are full of archery games that know it. The browser versions simply were not built that way. We mark which nine, so you do not find out after the download.
The rest of the target shooting in the catalogue lives in shooter games, and the stickman half of this page has a much bigger shelf of its own in stickman games.

What is the difference between an archery game and a shooting game?
The arc. A bullet in a browser game is a straight line drawn instantly from the gun to whatever it hits. An arrow has to travel, drop and sometimes drift, which means the game has to simulate it and you have to aim above the thing you want to hit. It is a completely different skill and it is why archery survived as its own genre.
What kinds of archery game are here?
Two families. Target archery — a roundel, a distance, a wind gauge, and nothing moving. And archer action, where the bow is a weapon in a fight: stickman duels, ragdoll physics, tower defence, hunting. The second family is much larger.
Do they work on a phone?
Nine of the seventy-seven, which is strange for a genre whose whole input is drag-and-release. The gesture suits a touchscreen perfectly; the developers simply did not build for it.
Why do some «arrow» games have no bow?
Because «arrow» is also a direction sign. Counting this collection turned up puzzle games about pointing arrows at things, mazes made of arrows, and logic trees — good games, wrong page. We took them off.
Do I need to download anything?
No. Everything here runs in the browser tab you already have open, with no account and no install.
