Car Games

Forty-eight picked by hand out of eight hundred and eighty-nine, and not one of them borrows a name that isn't theirs.

48 games · hand-picked, then filled from the catalogue

Eight hundred and eighty-nine games in this catalogue carry the car tag. Forty-eight are on this page, chosen one at a time, and the reason is worth stating up front.

How this list is put together

What the automatic list dragged in

Left to fill itself by tag, the first forty-eight included GTA New York, Grand Theft Stunt, Minion Rush 2, Russian Taz Driving 2, Cyber Truck Drive Simulator, Bentley Supersports and Ford F-100.

Out of two hundred candidates, twenty-two carried a name that belongs to someone else — real marques with their badge on the bonnet, and characters out of films. They stay in the catalogue, because anybody searching for them should find them. They are not on a page that says we chose it.

That costs something real: lamborghini car games and bmw car games are searched 1,100 times a month between them, and the honest answer is that we have nothing for either.

What English asks for that nobody else does

what gets searched per month
car racing games 8,800
car games 6,100
3d car driving games 3,900
multiplayer car racing games 3,100
pc racing games 3,100
kids car games 2,800
two player racing games 2,400
ipad racing games 1,900
car building games 1,800
mobile racing games 1,600
car mechanic simulator 1,400
car stunt games 1,000
car wash games 889
car soccer games 722

Two things stand out, and neither shows up in Spanish, Portuguese, French or Italian.

Playing together. Multiplayer and two-player racing come to 5,500 searches a month. In Spain the equivalent slot is taken by console searches; in Brazil by lowered cars; in France by crashes. English wants somebody else in the passenger seat.

Which device. iPad and mobile racing add another 3,500. That is a question about the machine, not the game, and it deserves a number rather than a promise.

Here are both numbers: nine of these forty-eight are two-player on one keyboard, and twenty of forty-eight are marked for touch.

The racing page is a different page

Sixteen of these also sit on racing games; thirty-two do not.

The split is real. Racing is about the finish line, and that page includes bikes and boats. This one is about the car itself: drifting it sideways, wrecking it, ramping it over a gap, washing it, or driving around a city with nowhere in particular to be. car racing games outsearches car games 8,800 to 6,100, so if it is the finish line you want, the other page is the better one.

Weight

The whole car shelf is the heaviest thing we host: a median of 14.5 MB against 7.8 MB for the catalogue. A car game has to bring a place to drive — textured road, buildings on both sides, moving traffic, a sky, and a car with enough polygons to hold up in the rear view at two hundred.

These forty-eight median 7.4 MB, under the site average and half the shelf they came from. The exact figure for every game is printed on its card before you press play.

Questions people ask

How is this different from the racing games page?

Sixteen of these forty-eight also appear on [racing games](/collections/racing-games), and thirty-two do not. This page is about the car — drifting it, wrecking it, jumping it, driving it around a city with nowhere to be. That page is about the finish line, and it includes bikes and boats as well.

Are there two-player car games?

Nine of the forty-eight, all on one keyboard. Two-player and multiplayer car racing together pull 5,500 searches a month in English, which is far more than any other market we measured asks for.

Are there Lamborghinis and Ferraris?

No, and that is deliberate. Real car names are trademarks, and a free browser studio does not license them. Out of two hundred candidates for this page, twenty-two carried somebody else's name — real marques and film characters both — and none of them are here.

Do they work on a phone or an iPad?

Twenty of the forty-eight are marked for touch. Driving needs two inputs, steer and accelerate, and both translate well: tilt for the wheel, a button for the throttle.

Why forty-eight and not the whole shelf?

Because the shelf is 889 games and letting the page fill itself brought in seven titles belonging to other people. The list is chosen one by one instead.
