About MineStrike.fun

Most dead browser games die quietly, and you only find out when the frame stays black. MineStrike.fun died in a way that is oddly fitting for its genre: the domain went up for sale, and the game went with it. Visit minestrike.fun today and you get a contact form for whoever wants to buy the name. Every path on the site returns the same page. The game servers, which lived on subdomains of that same address, stopped answering entirely.

That matters more here than it would elsewhere, because this was never a file you downloaded. It was a permanent arena running on one machine in Europe, and the address was the product. When the address changed hands, there was nothing left to run.

What it was, while it ran, was clear enough: EvoWars.io rebuilt with a block aesthetic. You spawn as a small figure with a wooden sword and almost no reach. You eat cake, cookies and cooked fish scattered across the ground. Your experience bar fills, you level up, and — this is the entire design — you get physically bigger and your weapon gets physically longer. A level 12 player with a diamond sword sweeps an arc that a level 3 player with a dandelion cannot answer. There are no stats to read. Size is the stat.

It came out in February 2020 from K&S Games, a studio whose archived site credits Aleksandr Savelev as author, and it did well: 8.2 out of 10 from 69,443 votes on CrazyGames before that page was taken down. The last update the client ever received was in March 2023.

The fifteen levels, and the fact that levels one and two are the same

The client's own help screen opens with a flat statement: "The game has only 15 levels". Each one swaps both your character and the thing you swing, and the pairing is fixed — you do not choose a skin, you earn it by getting fat.

Level You are You carry
1–2 Steve Wooden sword
3 Bee Dandelion
4 Pumpkin Stick
5 Fish Fishing rod
6 Ocelot Stone sword
7 Pig Stone pickaxe
8 Zombie Iron shovel
9 Skeleton Bone
10 Creeper Iron pickaxe
11 Drowned Trident
12 Enderman Diamond sword
13 Zombie Pigman Golden sword
14 Blaze Blaze rod
15 Witch Enchanted diamond sword
15 Herobrine Nanosaber

Two details worth pulling out. The game's text calls the level 3 weapon a sunflower, but the file the game actually loads is dandelion.png — it is a dandelion, and always was. And the ladder ends on Herobrine with a "nanosaber", a fan-legend character holding a science-fiction blade, which tells you exactly how seriously the progression takes itself by the top.

The middle of the table is the interesting part. A pig with a stone pickaxe outranks a fish with a fishing rod, and a skeleton swinging a bone outranks a zombie with an iron shovel. None of that follows any material hierarchy. It follows reach — how far the sprite extends from your hand.

What happened to MineStrike.fun, and what still works

Worth being blunt, because dozens of portals still list this game as playable and it is not.

The game was distributed by iframe, not by file. Portals never hosted a copy — they embedded minestrike.fun directly, which is why the whole network went dark at once rather than one site at a time. CrazyGames has since redirected its page for the game to a general multiplayer listing, and Snokido returns a 404. The archived client's server list held exactly one entry — a server named EU1, capped at 100 players in the arena and 125 connections in total — and nothing answers on its ports now.

So there is no working version. Not a mirror, not an unblocked copy, not a school-friendly build: "unblocked" only ever meant the domain was not on a filter list, and the domain no longer serves a game to anybody. If a site claims to have MineStrike.fun running, it is showing you the same empty frame.

Why it is called an .io game, and why that name killed it

The label on this game is ".io", and MineStrike carried it in the most literal way available: it lived at minestrike.io before it moved to minestrike.fun. Both are gone now — the .io address redirects somewhere unrelated, the .fun address is for sale.

The extension is not a gaming term at all. .io is the country-code domain of the British Indian Ocean Territory, a scattering of atolls in the middle of the Indian Ocean with no civilian population to speak of. What it had was a short, cheap, unclaimed namespace. In 2015 a game about eating smaller cells and fleeing bigger ones took an address there, called itself Agar.io, and spread through streamers within weeks. Everything that chased it copied the naming — Slither.io, Diep.io, Paper.io — and within two years ".io" had stopped meaning a place and started meaning a kind of game: instant join, one shared arena, grow or die. We wrote the longer version of that story in what .io games are and where the name came from.

MineStrike is that template with nothing added and nothing removed. No account, no lobby, no rounds, no maps, no match end — the arena simply runs, and you join it mid-flow and leave it when somebody bigger reaches you. The client has a server selector and no map selector, because there is only ever one place to be.

And the naming convention has a cost the genre rarely admits. When your game is a domain, your game has a renewal date. These games are not files that outlive their author's interest; they are addresses pointing at a machine somebody is paying for. MineStrike stopped being paid for, and there is no copy to fall back on, because there was never a copy.

Why everything in this genre ended up looking like blocks

The other thing worth noticing is that this game is a reskin, and its studio does not really hide it.

K&S Games has been running the same manoeuvre since 2019, and their own descriptions say so plainly. SlitherCraft.io is listed as "Slither.io + Minecraft". CrazySteve.io is listed as "Agar.io + Minecraft online io game". Mine-Craft.io and MineEnergy.fun round out the set — the last of those shares a client with MineStrike, so the archived bundle contains both games' code in one file. MineStrike.fun is the same formula applied to EvoWars.io.

That sounds cynical until you look at why the block aesthetic works so well in a browser. The textures are tiny, they load instantly, they scale to any screen without looking wrong, and a player who has never seen your game already knows that the tall dark figure is dangerous. A studio of a few people gets a legible visual language for free, and spends its actual effort on the netcode — which, in a game where a hundred people share one arena, is where the effort has to go.

It is also why the disclaimer exists. The game displayed, on its own start screen, the line: "NOT AN OFFICIAL MINECRAFT PRODUCT. NOT APPROVED BY OR ASSOCIATED WITH MOJANG." That was the author's own notice, in English and Russian, and it is accurate — this is an independent game with a block-styled look, unaffiliated with Mojang, Microsoft or Valve, whatever its name plays at.

More arena games that still connect

MineStrike is a record rather than a recommendation now. For games in the same shape that are actually running, 12 MiniBattles is the closest thing to its immediacy, Hunter Assassin keeps the hunt-the-smaller-target instinct, and Warfare Area and Stickman Gun Shooter 3D trade the sword for a rifle. The whole .io category is here, and everything in it has been checked to load.

How to play MineStrike.fun

  1. Type a name and press play. No account, no lobby, no map choice. There is one arena and you are dropped straight into it alongside everyone else.
  2. Point the mouse. Your character always walks towards the cursor. That is the only movement control.
  3. Eat everything that is not a potato. Cake, cookie, cooked chicken, cooked salmon and the golden apple all feed you. The poisonous potato takes experience away and can drop you a level.
  4. Left click to swing. Your weapon sweeps an arc. Hit anyone smaller and they drop their experience for you to collect.
  5. Hold right click to run — but only briefly. Sprinting burns experience continuously, so escaping a bigger player costs you size. Running away always makes you weaker.

Five things the portals never tell you about this game:

  • Your weapon is drawn on your right. The developer's own advice was to approach an enemy from their left, so that your sword is already between you, then strike first. It is not folklore — it falls straight out of how the character is assembled.
  • Levels one and two look identical. Both are Steve with a wooden sword. The only difference is that you are bigger. It reads as a bug and is not one.
  • The helmets are armour, not decoration. Iron absorbs part of the damage, gold absorbs more, diamond more again. Three tiers, and they are the only defensive item in the game.
  • The golden apple heals over time rather than feeding you. In a fight you are losing, it is worth more than three cakes.
  • Turning off your ad blocker paid you 20% extra experience. The game said so on its own start screen — an unusually blunt piece of monetisation for a free .io game.

FAQ

Does MineStrike.fun still work?

No. The game was hosted entirely on minestrike.fun, and that domain now shows a "this domain is for sale" page. Its game servers stopped responding as well, so every portal that embeds it — including this one — loads an empty frame. The last client update was March 2023.

How do you play MineStrike.fun?

You move by pointing the mouse, attack with left click, and hold right click to sprint. Eating food raises your experience and levels you up, which makes your character bigger and your weapon longer. Attack players smaller than you and stay away from anyone bigger.

How many levels does MineStrike.fun have?

Fifteen. Each one changes both your character and your weapon, starting with Steve and a wooden sword and finishing with Herobrine and a nanosaber. Levels one and two share the same look and differ only in size.

Is MineStrike.fun a real multiplayer game or are the opponents bots?

Real players. The client contains no bot or AI code of any kind, only a single player entity type, and it connected to a dedicated server called EU1 that held up to 100 players in one arena. That server is now offline.

Is MineStrike.fun connected to Minecraft or Counter-Strike?

No. The game itself displayed the notice "NOT AN OFFICIAL MINECRAFT PRODUCT. NOT APPROVED BY OR ASSOCIATED WITH MOJANG." on its own start screen. It is an independent game by K&S Games and has no affiliation with, licence from, or endorsement by Mojang, Microsoft or Valve.

Who made MineStrike.fun?

A small studio credited as K&S Games, whose archived site named Aleksandr Savelev as the author. They specialise in taking a hit .io game and rebuilding it with a block aesthetic — their other titles are SlitherCraft.io, CrazySteve.io, Mine-Craft.io and MineEnergy.fun.

Why is it called an .io game?

The .io domain belongs to the British Indian Ocean Territory. It was short, cheap and available in 2015 when Agar.io used it, and after that success the extension came to mean a genre rather than a country — instant join, one shared arena, grow or die.

What can I play instead of MineStrike.fun?

For the same one-arena, many-players feel, 12 MiniBattles and Hunter Assassin are both live here, and Warfare Area covers the shooting side. The full .io category on this site lists everything in the genre that still connects.
